Getaway to Bali - Beaches

Bali is an island blessed with many beautiful beaches; Kuta beach is one of the most favourite beach discovered by the tourist, it is just a stone throw away from Denpasar airport; reachable about 15-30 minutes driving.

Kuta Beach
During our stay at Kuta Beach, there is a day me and Danny were suppose to join the groupies for the white water rafting, but I was just recovered from sick and we decided not to join them. We rent a motorcycle to tour around Kuta instead. Kuta is not only famous with its white sandy beach, it is also a shopping mecca with its line of shops and restaurants. We were so happily plunge ourselves into the shopping spree especially the Quicksilver outlet which is about 50% cheaper than the price back home. There is bazaar ON the beach as well, I bought some handicraft at pretty good price with the help by Danny which possess the great bargain skill. :p.

After the shopping, definitely we don't want to miss the surfing. We hired the surfing coach from the Kuta beach for two hours. IT IS DAMN FUN LA!!! It's not as tough as I thought. After being coached for few round, I'm able to stand on the surfing board!! wow, it's really the best thing I did in Bali. I was so exhausted after the 2 hours surfing, what's next? Nothing beat the traditional Balinese massage while having my sun bath on the shore at the same time sipping the chilly coke. HEAVEN!

Jimbaran Bay
Jimbaran bay is another tourist spot which famous with its luxurious resorts and seafood restaurant on the beach. Of course the resorts don't set up their business here with no reason. Jimbaran Bay blessed with white sandy beach with strong wave which provide a good place for intermediate surfers, Bluepoint Beach is one of the beach here that attract a lot of surfers.

At night, we had a superb seafood dinner at one of the many on-the-beach seafood restaurant with the nice breeze under the starring night, accompanied by the concerto of live band and the constant rhythm of the strong wave. ROMANTIC~

Nusa Dua
Nusa Dua which known by its crystal clear water, is the place we went for the water sport activities. We did the Banana Boat, parasailing, snorkeling and Flying Fish. The snorkelling is kind of a disappointment, but the rest is not bad especially this is my first time trying the parasailing. Fun!!!

I Had a Date with CATS @ Singapore

It is my long awaiting trip to Singapore for the Cats musical and of course, for catching up with Eunice and Lily. Too bad Chrys unable to join us, else it will definitely double the joyous.

It was just a short trip that last for 2 days, a bit rushing though, but it was indeed a contented trip. We shopped till we drop on the first day, and got back to hotel at 11pm++. Both me and Lily were so exhausted and our legs damn strained, yet we never fail to finish spending the SGD we brought, haha, it's been a long long time I didn't do such a crazy shopping spree. I bought 3 dresses, 2 shorts, 1 skirt, 2 tops, a pair of shoes and a handbag! Wow, I didn't realize I bought so many stuff until I pack my luggage at night.

BFF - Lily, Eunice and me

At night in the hotel, 3 of us chat for whole night long until Eunice finally gone "unconcious", hahaha. The next day, we went to the church with Eunice in the morning for the Easter celebration and rush to Esplanade after the church service for our highlight of the trip - the Cats musical!!!! we were so so so so excited.

The show doesn't disappoint us, it doesn't become one of the best-known musical for no reason. It is kinda entertaining, albeit it's quite boring at some part in the first half of the play, but overall it is great. I was so touched when the Grizabella the Glamour Cat sing the song "Memory", and I was amazed by the setting which is a giant junkyard full of cats. I enjoyed the show so much. As well as the whole Singapore trip, thanks Eunice for your hospitality, really good to catch up with you girls again.

So happy neh...

Getaway to Bali - Ubud

We left the famous tourist spot of Bali - Kuta Beach and bound towards Ubud on the 3rd day. Ubud is a small town in the middle of Bali island, it is quite far away from the beach and we were there for the unique cottage ON the scenic paddy fields.

The Hibiscus Cottage

We stayed at the Hibiscus Cottage for 2 days. The cottage is surrounded by a great view of paddy field. The cottage itself has very rich resemblance to the Balinese culture; the doors, the windows, the furniture are all a nice piece of art with the fine craft on it. I felt like a princess staying in an ancient palace, haha.

At night, we can hear the cricket chirping and frog croaking which makes it a soothing lullaby, and there are fire flies on the paddy field under the starring night too. It is really a good place for relaxation, what's more?it only cost at rm90 per night! But there is no air-cond and Angeline dislike it because she said the deco looks spooky. Haha.

The greenary from the balcony of our cottage

On the first night, we decided to rent motorcycles to explore the Ubud. It was fun!!!! By asking around the locals, we able to find the restaurant for the famous Bebek Bengil a.k.a Dirty Duck. The food was great as well as the ambiance. Then we thought of looking for massage parlour but too bad it was closed although it was just about 10pm. Thus we just drove around the Ubud again and went back to our cottage to feel like a prince/princess again.. :D

The door and the corridor

The bathroom and the exit to the balcony. It's really nice to have a cuppa at the balcony under the starring night.

The bed with stones underneath it.

F1 2009 @ Sepang

This is my first time to the track and watch F1 racing live. Unfortunately, it was pouring. I think we were really lucky, it only happened few times in the past that the F1 race have to stopped half way due to heavy rain, how lucky we were to witness such rare occasion and end up we only able to watch 33 out of the 60 laps; yeah, disappointed.

Anyway, I had fun with Danny and my colleagues. It was really an eye-opener to me - to experience this international event, to see how fast can the F1 car race, to hear how harshing the engine sound can be, and not to mention to feel how crappy the carpark is, and how terrible the traffic jam is..

The view from our seat

It is really not an easy job to capture the photo of the car especially on a straight track, it is too fast. By the time I release the shutter of my camera, the car already gone out of my sight

Then it start raining

And then the safety car appear

Talk about the crappy carpark, it is not cheap wei, it cost a rm50 for the carpark which we gotta walk for a long long distance to reach the entrance of the circuit, moreover, we gotta soak our feet into the mud while walking to the carpark due to the rain, thank god I was with my slippers..

All of us

Our seat. See the guy in pink at the back? Don't you think he looks like Jay Chow? Hehe

Getaway to Bali - Mount Batur the volcano

Throughout the 8 days of my Bali trip; the itinery for the hiking at Mount Batur is the most exhausted, yet a pretty interesting experience for me. This is my first time climbing an active volcano, somemore at the wee hours just for the sake of viewing the sunrise from the peak.

It was 2.30am when we dragged ourselves out from the cozy bed, we reached the foot of the Mount Batur after an hour drive from our hotel at Ubud. The moment I got out from the car, I was awake by the freezingly cold breeze; I started to realize wearing shorts and t-shirt for this hiking is a bad idea. Luckily Danny brought along his jacket and he gave it to me. :)

After meeting with our tour guide; we started our trekking. It was all dark, we can hardly see our surrounding with just the dim light from our torch light. I was shivering while walking and find it hard to breath either. It's really not an easy one, the volcanic ash and sand is not easy to walk in, somemore my sneakers just don't mean for hiking.

After struggling for about 2 hours, we reached the peak. There is a hut where we can sit down and took our breakfast while waiting for the sunrise. The breakfast provided by our tourguide was bun and egg. Not a good one after an exhausted exercise like this. But of course, the view is great. We can see the colourful sky nicely set up on top of the Lake Batur surrounded by the greyish volcanic ash. It's BEAUTIFUL~~~

After the sun rose, we were guided to the back of the hut which is a crater. The crater was emitting steam and there are rocks with warm water dripping; the dripping water is said to be the holy water by the locals. We walked around the mountain for some sightseeing, then it's time to go down the hill.

It's not any easier to go down the hill than going up. The slope is very steep and slippery due to the volcanic ash, moreover there are no shades and we were exposed under the big hot sun for hours. I have no idea how long we have walked, but seems like a decade for me and finally we touched down at the base and ended out hiking..... then at night, I got fever.. -_-'', told ya, it was exhausted, isn't it?
